Early Life and Education
Dr. Soumya completed her undergraduate medical training at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, where she earned her MBBS degree between 2005 and 2011. It was during these formative years that her passion for surgery first began to take shape.
Determined to build a strong foundation in surgical sciences, she pursued her Master of Surgery (M.S.) in General Surgery at University College of Medical Sciences and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital between 2012 and 2015, training in one of India’s busiest government surgical centers.
Her growing interest in cancer surgery led her to pursue superspecialty training in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, where she completed her M.Ch. in Surgical Oncology between 2016 and 2019. At Tata Memorial, one of Asia’s foremost cancer institutes, she received organ-specific oncology training across multiple cancer disciplines.

Following her superspecialty training, Dr. Soumya continued at Tata Memorial Hospital as Specialist Senior, further strengthening her expertise in complex cancer surgery.
Returning to Bengaluru, she joined M.S. Ramaiah Medical College and Teaching Hospital as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology while simultaneously serving as Associate Consultant at HCG MSR Cancer Care. During this period, she was actively involved in surgical training, mentoring residents, teaching postgraduate students, and refining her operative decision-making in high-volume oncology practice.
In 2024, she joined Cytecare Hospitals as Consultant Surgical Oncologist, where she currently performs complex cancer surgeries across multiple organ systems.
