Dr. Vivek Barun

Dr. Vivek Barun is a neurologist, epileptologist, clinician, and academic educator known for his work in epilepsy care, stroke neurology, neurophysiology, and advanced neurological diagnostics. Over the years, he has built a career at the intersection of clinical neuroscience, epilepsy surgery, neurodiagnostics, and postgraduate medical education, emerging as a leading voice in comprehensive epilepsy care in India.

Currently based in Gurugram, he serves as Senior Consultant in Neurology and Epilepsy at Artemis Hospitals, where his work spans complex epilepsy management, stroke medicine, movement disorders, electrophysiology, and presurgical neurological evaluation.

Dr. Vivek completed his undergraduate medical training at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, where he earned his MBBS degree between 2006 and 2011, graduating with first-class academic distinction.

Driven by a strong interest in adult medicine and clinical diagnostics, he pursued his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in Internal Medicine at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital between 2012 and 2015, also graduating with first-class distinction.

His growing fascination with neurosciences led him to superspecialty training in Neurology at Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, where he completed his D.M. in Neurology between 2016 and 2019, again graduating with first-class distinction.

Following his neurology training, he pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in Epilepsy at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences between 2022 and 2023, receiving advanced training in epilepsy medicine, neurophysiology, presurgical epilepsy evaluation, and long-term video EEG monitoring.

He has further completed advanced training in neurological disease management from Harvard Medical School, along with International League Against Epilepsy Level 1 and Level 2 certifications in epilepsy training.

Dr. Vivek’s professional journey reflects a progression from internal medicine into highly specialized neurological and epilepsy care.

Following his D.M. training, he served as Associate Consultant in Neurology at Fortis Healthcare between 2019 and 2020.
