Dr. Akriti Mishra

Dr. Akriti Mishra is a periodontist, healthcare writer, and dental educator whose work is rooted in two lifelong instincts: a pull toward service and a love for writing. Medicine gave the first a purpose. The years that followed gave the second a voice. That these two callings eventually converged into a single career is something she considers less a coincidence and more an inevitability. Today her work spans periodontal surgery, laser-assisted procedures, regenerative therapy, and implant dentistry, alongside healthcare writing, dental education, and clinical mentoring, all sitting at the intersection of clinical excellence, education, and health communication.

Dr. Akriti was born and raised in Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand, completing her schooling at Chinmaya Vidyalaya. Her early grounding in disciplined academics and creative pursuits shaped both her scientific thinking and her communication style, qualities that define her work today.

She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Odisha (2015-2020), where she also served as coordinator of the college's literary society, Khoye Panne, reflecting an early and sustained commitment to writing.

She pursued her Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontics from AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, Karnataka (2021-2024), one of India's most reputed dental institutions. Her postgraduate training covered the full spectrum of periodontal science, from surgical technique to regenerative research. Her thesis explored gingival stem cells, and her dissertation focused on interdisciplinary periodontics. Short-term research projects included a photodynamic therapy laser study, a CBCT-based implant placement study, and an oral health survey. During her MDS years she delivered over 30 academic presentations spanning seminars, journal clubs, and interdepartmental case discussions.

Dr. Akriti currently practices at Sujay's Dental Care, Bangalore, where she manages comprehensive periodontal cases ranging from scaling and root planing to periodontal flap surgeries, bone augmentation procedures, and laser-assisted treatments. She also assists in implant placements and is an active faculty member at the clinic's implant training academy, where she teaches suturing techniques, implant maintenance protocols, and management of implant complications.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Akriti works as a freelance healthcare and scientific writer, developing manuscripts, patient education content, and digital health communication for clients across the healthcare industry. One of her freelance manuscripts is currently under journal review.

She is also a contributor at MedBound Times, where she has authored 6+ published articles and conducted a series of expert interviews with healthcare professionals across specialties. Through the Docscopy interview format, she has profiled clinicians and healthcare leaders, turning their clinical journeys and expertise into published, searchable features on the platform.

Additionally, Dr. Akriti heads the academics and training vertical at Dental Plus Direct (DPD), a dental education startup, where she oversees curriculum development, content strategy, and clinical training programs for dental professionals.

She received the Best Paper Award at ISPRP 2023, Kannur, for an interdisciplinary presentation integrating periodontics and prosthodontics. She was conferred the Best Author Excellence Award by the Journal of Oral Medicine and Dental Research for her case report titled "Papillary Preservation Approach in Treatment of Osseous Defects." She has delivered a guest lecture titled "Mastering Crown Lengthening: Tailoring Techniques for Restorative and Esthetic Success" as part of a webinar hosted by Dentist Channel Online.

She has 5+ indexed peer-reviewed publications to her credit, including first authorship on three and corresponding authorship on two, covering periodontal regeneration, papillary preservation techniques, and the oral-systemic health interface.

Dr. Akriti heads the academics and training vertical at Dental Plus Direct (DPD), a dental education startup where she leads curriculum development, content strategy, and clinical training programs for dental professionals. This work reflects her belief that clinical knowledge must be taught accessibly and applied meaningfully, not confined to textbooks or postgraduate classrooms.

She has authored an ebook titled "Mastering Seminars in Periodontology," a practical guide developed for postgraduate dental students navigating academic presentations. The ebook draws directly from her clinical and academic training and is available on Gumroad.

She is also developing structured educational content in her specialty, with a focus on the periodontal-systemic health connection, an area she considers critically undertaught in mainstream dental education.

Outside her professional work, Dr. Akriti practices yoga and maintains a personal art practice, both kept deliberately separate from her public roles as spaces for creative restoration. She holds a strong interest in functional medicine and believes that sustainable health outcomes come from identifying and addressing the root cause of disease rather than managing symptoms alone. This perspective quietly informs both her clinical approach and her healthcare writing.
